The outstanding suspect is joseph sandoval, the one in the middle pick toured here. Detectives also believe that a fourth suspect, a woman, played a role. Theyre still working to identify her. Critics say the judge aaron persky showed too much leniency in the Sexual Assault case of former stanford swimmer brock turner. The sap Center Memorial for 34yearold Michael Katherman was filled with officers and the public, all sharing a goodbye and a thank you. Id like to think that were not here to remember one tragic day but rather the life of a man that touched so many people. Reporter fellow officers told upbeat stories of kathermans numerous skills. He was known as the cat man. He always made jokes. Im built for torque and power. Reporter his father praised his sons dedication. April and the boys, all in. Basketball all in. They say its especially bad in the summertime. And they are baffled by the Parks Services decision to remove the public trash cans. Neighbors have been sending is pictures like this of garbage, lots of pictures. Complaining about the Parks Services socalled experiment. Taking away garbage cans to encourage people to take their trash home with them. Do they . No, they dont. I see garbage left in the places where the garbage cans used to be. People are pulling up put inat the top of the stairs and it blows all over the neighborhood. They wanted to encourage people to pack the trash out and take it away with them. Nowadays people are so lazy they dont do that. Youre lucky to get them to walk to a trash can let alone take it with them. Reporter the park service pulled the trash cans from this part of ocean beach last october. A spokesman telling us cleanup cruise monitoring the beach every Morning Report that the experiment is working. Theyve found that actually theres less trash than there had been during the periods in which trash cans were in that area. It may seem counter intuitive, but thats their experience with it. Lindberg thompson, the driver of a Union Pacific maintenance vehicle that killed a gilroy man last year was arraigned on felony negligence charges. 55yearold don williams had a green light when he was making a left turn across the tracks at maston and monterey in gilroy when that massive vehicle slammed into his truck. An investigation found the maintenance vehicle didnt activate the crossing gates at the intersection. Thompson who was driving in reverse never stopped, which is also a violation of Union Pacific policy. We filed these charges in part because of the negligent operation that we believe occurred in this case. But also because there was a tragic death. The message that we have is that when there are rules and regulations in place, they need to be followed. Thompson who pleaded not guilty could face up to four years in prison.
