(Google Maps ) JOLIET, IL Two people were killed around 2:45 a.m. Monday when the driver of a sedan missed a curve in the roadway on Jefferson Street near Raynor Avenue. The car slammed into a tree and split in half, according to a Joliet Police Department news release. The Will County Coroner s Office announced that one of the victims has been identified as 31-year-old Jonathan Bundley of Chicago. The second fatality victim was William Burke III, a 55-year-old Chicago man, the coroner announced.

WJOL broke the news Thursday morning, reporting that it confirmed through Joliet Police Sgt. Dwayne English the news of Busse s latest arrest. Joliet Patch had called English about the Busse matter on Wednesday, but the Joliet Police Department spokesman did not return calls to Patch. Subscribe In any event, the 37-year-old Busse remains on the city of Joliet s payroll, even though then-chief Al Roechner recommended him for termination in February 2020. At no point between Feb. 28, 2020, and January 2021, when Roechner left the department, did the chief appear before the city s police and fire board to present his case as to why Busse s firing was warranted.

(John Ferak/Joliet Patch) JOLIET, IL The Will County Coroner s Office identified the woman found dead of a gunshot wound Thursday as Jennifer C. Triplett, 40, of Joliet. The coroner s office said it is investigating her death as a suicide. Triplett was pronounced dead in the 1200 block of Morgan Street. At least a dozen members of the Joliet Police Department were on the scene investigating Thursday. Father Chris Groh, the Joliet police chaplain, was also at the scene. Chris Schott to a lieutenant last week. (City of Joliet) JOLIET, IL A Joliet police supervisor being recommended for promotion to lieutenant was rejected in a 3-0 vote at last Thursday s meeting of the city s board of police and fire commissioners. Joliet Police Sgt. Christopher Schott was turned down in his bid to become elevated to the rank of lieutenant after the board learned Schott recently received a 10-day suspension from work for conduct unbecoming of an officer, according to board chairman Todd Wooten.
