WEST CHESTER, PA Chester County residents spent the week inquiring about how to get on a vaccine list after the Pennsylvania Department of Health moved 90,000 people here into the Phase 1A category on Tuesday.
The short answer is: Register on the county website, re-register if you are 16-64 with a health condition, and wait to be contacted. The wait, said the Chester County Health Department, is not for Chester County to be ready, but for vaccine supply to arrive.
Shannon Smith, head nurse of the Philadelphia school district, was first in line to set an example. I almost had a tear in my eye when it happened because this has been long coming, Smith said. We love our children. The fact that we haven t seen them in all this time, we haven t laid eyes on them, especially the most vulnerable children; we re thrilled to have this opportunity to move toward normalcy of some sort.
Health officials say the vaccine is one of many layers required to beat the virus. This is just one of the many other things we are all doing right now, like wearing masks, staying six feet from each other and going about our way in a very way and limiting our interactions in our community, said Dr. Barbara Klock, Medical Officer of Philadelphia Schools.

PHOENIXVILLE, PA Four school-based vaccination sites are ready to deliver vaccines to public and private school staff by the end of January, but the health department told school administrators Tuesday the plan is on hold without more COVID-19 vaccine.
The PASD superintendent s report Tuesday night said Chester County s health department director had addressed county school superintendents on Tuesday and told them the plan to quickly vaccinate all school staff is ready and waiting only on enough vaccine.

CHESTER COUNTY, PA Chester County has averaged 1,386 new COVID-19 cases a week over the last month, even as a vaccine is distributed here and in Delaware County in a phased roll-out that s dependent on supplies.
How Many Have Gotten The Vaccine?
Since vaccination distribution began in late December, 9,304 in Chester County have received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, and 1,367 have had the second dose, according to the Chester County Health Department. The most recent department report on Jan. 15 said 2,310 vaccines were given in the last week in Chester County.
