WEST CHESTER, PA Chester County residents spent the week inquiring about how to get on a vaccine list after the Pennsylvania Department of Health moved 90,000 people here into the Phase 1A category on Tuesday.
The short answer is: Register on the county website, re-register if you are 16-64 with a health condition, and wait to be contacted. The wait, said the Chester County Health Department, is not for Chester County to be ready, but for vaccine supply to arrive.

HARRISBURG, PA Gov. Tom Wolf on Friday nominated his deputy chief of staff, Alison Beam, to be the state s new health secretary. She will replace Dr. Rachel Levine, who has been nominated by President Joe Biden to be assistant secretary of health in the federal Department of Health and Human Services.
Beam will become acting health secretary on Saturday. Alison knows that a strong, widely available, and successful vaccination strategy is the path out of the pains of this pandemic, Wolf said in a prepared statement.

PHILADELPHIA, PA Some winter weather is possible early next week in the Philadelphia region.
Forecasters are currently watching a system that could bring accumulating snow to the region Monday night into Tuesday morning.
The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for the system, saying a wintry mix mostly of snow and sleet is possible late Monday into Tuesday. That agency has not issued accumulation predictions, but The Weather Channel is forecasting 3 to 5 inches for the Philadelphia region.

Like neighboring Philadelphia, Delaware County has a residency requirement for its county employees. But now the Delaware County Council is considering loosening that requirement in order to find the qualified workers the county needs.

Wednesday night, county Executive Director Howard Lazarus introduced a change to policy that would allow the county to hire non-residents who pledge to move into Delaware County within three months. Agency heads would be able to push the deadline back to one year, and perhaps up to two years in some circumstances.

PHOENIXVILLE, PA Four school-based vaccination sites are ready to deliver vaccines to public and private school staff by the end of January, but the health department told school administrators Tuesday the plan is on hold without more COVID-19 vaccine.
The PASD superintendent s report Tuesday night said Chester County s health department director had addressed county school superintendents on Tuesday and told them the plan to quickly vaccinate all school staff is ready and waiting only on enough vaccine.
