in his house. okay so did some other presidents or vice presidents and are they experience this? did they get raided? where are the charges? where is the accountability for them? where is the special counsel joe biden next to his house or in his garage or in his offices. many more boxes than donald trump got caught for. what about the sweetheart plea deal and tax fraud and felony drug charges and almost getting off and almost getting blanket immunity if it weren t for this judge appointed by trump. what about the bribery and foreign influence allegations that s possible as well. why aren t we hearing more about the biden family and those charges? this jack smith keeps going after donald trump and it s more charges. i thought this was done. i thought now they were moving on to january ofth and moving on to georgia. now they are going back to florida and find three additional charges and find people that work for him. came up in the ranks probably came from nothing and had low jobs they
florida and jamie raskin will be the questioners today. the focus on the extremists, the proud boys and the oath keepers, let s watch. the select committee investigating the january ofth attack on the united states capitol will be in order. without objection, the chair is authorized to declare the
election-related litigation. the select committee discovered that the save america pac made millions of dollars of contributions to pro-trump organizations including $1 million to chump chief of staff mark meadows charitable foundation. $1 million to the america first policy institute the conservative organization which employs several former trump administration officials. $204,857 to the trump hotel collection. and over $5 million to event strategies inc., the company that ran president trump s january 6th rally on the ellipse. u.s. attorney general merrick garland says that he and the justice department prosecutors investigating january ofth are carefully watching the hearings. his comments came while defending the department over criticism of the approach to the investigation so far. the justice department s long-standing position is that we don t comment on ongoing investigations. we do that both for the
few weeks. for americans who are tuning in to this, and aren t quite sure what to expect, from these hearings, give us an explainer, if you will, about what, if any, legal consequences could come at the conclusion of the hearings, after the committee puts together its final report. i mean it s going to be up to the committee to decide, and what they decide it do with their effort. i ve heard both the committee that they may make criminal referrals and then send the packet of evidence to the justice department and that is the agency that will decide whether they move ahead with it, and it is not necessarily that the d.o.j. will act on it and the select committee is looking at how they want to proceed, but at the end of the day, look, the d.o.j. has now around three or four, at least three or four grand juries investigating january ofth, and events leading up to the capitol attack and so
same. joining me is msnbc legal analyst joyce advance and molly jhong fast of the atlantic two of my favorite people especially to start my day. joyce, first off, i have to ask the question i raised at the top of the hour, how big of a deal are these text messages and are they going to help build a case against donald trump? so i think those are two separate questions, which is why you pose the question that way, katie. the first part of that question, what can we take away from the texts? the most shocking thing about them is that we see senator lee affirmatively advocating participation in what we can only characterize at this point as an attempted coup. as we get closer to january ofth, we see him doing something we don t see directly from others. we see him acknowledging that what they are doing is wrong.
