TALLAHASSEE – Florida State baseball’s Fan Day, presented by Rising Spear, has been set for February 11 at Dick Howser Stadium. The full schedule for the free event is below:

The scrimmage will be the first opportunity for fans to see the 2023 Seminoles this spring. Head coach Link Jarrett, a Tallahassee native and All-American shortstop for the Seminoles from 1991-94, is in his first season as FSU’s head coach after being named national coach of the year the last two seasons at Notre Dame.
At the plate, FSU returns freshmen All-Americans Jaime Ferrer and James Tibbs, with Cam Smith named the preseason ACC Freshman of the Year by D1Baseball. On the mound, junior Wyatt Crowell is a preseason All-ACC selection by Perfect Game.

TALLAHASSEE – Four Seminoles – led by sophomore starting pitcher Parker Messick – earned All-America honors for their performance during the 2022 season.
Messick was a first team All-American by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, a second team All-American from Baseball America and Collegiate Baseball and a third team All-American by D1Baseball and Perfect Game.
A trio of first-year players joined Messick as freshmen All-Americans, with Jaime Ferrer (Collegiate Baseball), James Tibbs (second team Perfect Game) and Conner Whittaker (second team NCBWA) being recognized.
Messick, from Plant City, Florida, was a first team All-ACC pitcher and finished the year with a 7-5 record, 3.38 ERA and 144 strikeouts and only 18 walks in 98.2 innings pitched. A finalist for the Dick Howser and Golden Spikes Awards, Messick led the ACC in strikeouts and was just the second FSU pitcher in the past decade with consecutive 100-strikeout seasons. AUBURN, ALA. – Fifth-year senior Jonah Scolaro allowed just one run and struck out a career high nine batters, but UCLA (40-23) got a ninth-inning home run to knock off Florida State (34-25) 2-1 Sunday in an elimination game at the Auburn Regional.
Scolaro was making his 120th career pitching appearance – fourth in FSU history – but just his third start. His nine strikeouts and 6.1 innings pitched were career highs, and the sole run allowed was a seventh inning home run to Kyle Karros.
After teams traded zeros through five innings, freshman Jaime Ferrer broke the scoreless tie with a solo home run in the sixth against Kelly Austin. Karros tied the game on the first pitch of the seventh inning.
Wyatt Crowell and Davis Hare (1-4) each threw 1.1 innings for the Seminoles, with Hare allowing a solo home run to Carson Yates in the ninth inning that proved to be the game winner.

AUBURN, ALA. – Three-seed Florida State (34-23) beat two-seed UCLA (38-23) Friday 5-3 to record the first win of the 2022 NCAA Baseball Tournament. FSU advances to the winner’s bracket and will play either Auburn or SE Louisiana Saturday at 7:00 p.m. ET.
Parker Messick (7-5) allowed a pair of runs with four strikeouts in 5.0 innings for his first win away from Dick Howser Stadium this season. Wyatt Crowell, Jonah Scolaro and Davis Hare combined for four innings out of the bullpen, with the only run scoring on a wild pitch. Hare recorded five outs for his team-high fourth save of the season.
The Seminoles took an early lead against UCLA’s Max Rajcic (8-5). With two outs in the first, Jaime Ferrer doubled and scored on James Tibbs’ RBI single, the first at-bat in the NCAA Tournament for both true freshmen.
