After Kansas and Oklahoma split the first two games of the series, the Sooners won the rubber match 7-4 on Sunday afternoon at L. Dale Mitchell Park. Redshirt sophomore Michael Brooks had two hits and two RBIs, including a home run in the game.
After moving Friday’s game time up six hours due to the potential for inclement weather, Kansas defeated Oklahoma 8-2 at L. Dale Mitchell Park. Graduate pitcher Collin Baumgartner tossed seven strong innings for Kansas and matched his season high with nine strikeouts, while allowing only two runs.
Kansas has won nine of their last 10 games, including an 11-7 victory against Texas Southern on Wednesday to complete a two-game series sweep of the Tigers. Kansas remained undefeated at Hoglund Ballpark this season, improving to 7-0 on the year. The Jayhawks are one of seven teams in NCAA Division I baseball to still be undefeated at home this season.
Kansas has now won eight of its last nine games as the Jayhawks defeated the Texas Southern Tigers in the second annual Buck O’Neil Classic at Legends Field by a final score of 8-5. Kansas has won both years of the Buck O’Neil Classic.
