The 2023 regular season came to a close on Saturday afternoon for Kansas with Texas Tech defeating the Jayhawks 15-1 in seven innings. True freshman Kodey Shojinaga collected his 19th multi-hit game of the season.
Kansas hit six home runs on Friday afternoon en route to a 12-4 victory over the Samford Bulldogs at Joe Lee Griffin Field. Janson Reeder, Collier Cranford, Chase Jans, Kodey Shojinaga, Michael Brooks and Cole Elvis all hit home runs in the contest.
Kansas and Samford played a traditional low scoring Friday night game on Thursday afternoon, with Samford narrowly defeating Kansas 3-2 at Joe Lee Griffin Field. Collin Baumgartner tossed his third consecutive quality start and Chase Jans hit his ninth home run of the season.
Kansas scored four runs in the ninth inning and had the go-ahead run on base, but the Missouri Tigers held on to defeat the Jayhawks 9-7 at Taylor Stadium Tuesday night. Michael Brooks and Luke Leto each hit home runs in the ninth to close the gap and give the Jayhawks an opportunity to win the game.
