Nigerians have taken to social media to express their anger and disbelief at the appearance of a murder and rape suspect, Uduak Frank Akpan, who was clad in a close-fitting orange T-shirt with the inscription, ‘The Mudder Squad’ conspicuously emblazoned on the top in black print.
The PUNCH had earlier reported that the Akwa Ibom State Police Command, on Friday, paraded 20-year-old Akpan who confessed to raping and killing a job seeker, Inibong Umoren, last month in the South-South state.
Akpan, according to the state Police Commissioner, Andrew Amiengheme, was paraded today to dispel the rumour that he committed suicide in police custody.

Iniobong Umoren, the 26-year-old graduate of Philosophy who was lured via a fake job, raped, killed, and subsequently buried in a shallow grave, has been laid to rest amid tears in Akwa Ibom State.

Umoren had shown up at the address for a job interview that never was. 20-year-old
Frank Akpan confessed to the crime a couple of days later, according to the police, and remains in custody. On Tuesday, May 11, 2021, investigative journalist
David Hundeyin published a report in
Newswirengr.com, in which he alleged that Akpan didn t commit the crime alone and that there is some evidence that the suspect worked in cahoots with a certain
Kufre Effiong, a civil servant and Superintendent of Police,
Samuel Ezeugo, among others. The report also alleged that the Akwa Ibom Police Command allowed a desecration of the crime scene to conceal evidence, and that there were bones of Akpan s other victims strewn all over the site of Umoren s murder.
