New Delhi: The government on Sunday said it has made FASTags mandatory from 15 February midnight and any vehicle not fitted with it will be charged double the toll at electronic toll plazas across the country.
The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways in a statement said it has decided that all lanes in the fee plazas on National Highways shall be declared as FASTag lane of the fee plaza from midnight of 15th/16th February 2021.

In a respite to highway commuters, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has withdrawn the requirement of maintaining a minimum amount in the FASTag wallet to ensure seamless movement at electronic toll plaza.

New Delhi: The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) had made it mandatory for all vehicles to use FASTag from 1 January 2021. However, considering the fact that many are yet to buy a FASTag and are making cash payments at toll plazas, the ministry has now decided to extend the deadline till 15 February, 2021. This means that all vehicle owners will now have time till 15 February to get a FASTag affixed.
