The La Crosse School District has launched a community engagement campaign to pass a $53 million building referendum this fall, which calls for building a new $42 million elementary school and an $11 million addition at State Road Elementary School. The district is facing an annual operating deficit of $2 million and is seeking to upgrade facilities and reduce square footage during a time of declining enrollment.
Two new La Crosse School Board members, Jim Bagniewski and Adam Manka, have expressed reservations about a $53 million building referendum this fall.
