CLEMSON, S.C. The Indoor Track and Field All-ACC Academic Team was announced on Wednesday morning, and it featured seven Clemson student-athletes. Marie Forbes, Trishauna Hemmings and Harleigh White represent the women's program while Devon Brooks, Lafranz Campbell, Dashinelle Dyer and Cameron Rose were the four men named to the team. Brooks and Campbell each represented Clemson at Indoor Nationals, finishing 10th and ninth, respectively. Both Brooks and Lafranz are graduate students competing primarily in hurdle events. Brooks studies athletic leadership while Campbell studies women's leadership. Dashinelle Dyer and Cameron Rose round out the men's All-ACC Academic Team honorees. Rose finished third in the men's 200 meter dash at ACC Championships, and was a member of the ACC Champion 4x400 meter relay team. GAINESVILLE, Fla. It was an impressive weekend for Clemson's track and field program at the Florida Relays. Several Tigers set personal bests and a few brought home gold in their events. The meet was Clemson's third competition of the season and the tea certainly beginning to round into form at this stage of the spring. HIGHLIGHTS Rojé Stona won the discus throw with an impressive 60.63 meter mark. The victory was his second in as many weekends, as he took home the crown at Austin Relays as well. Daniel Cope continues to rewrite Clemson's record book, as he moved into 5th all-time in the hammer throw (59.49m) and 6th in the discus (53.83m). Michael Smith moved into the Clemson top-10 list with an excellent 9:01.80 in the 3000m steeplechase. He finished 4th out of 14 in the event. ATLANTA – The Clemson track and field team began its 2022 outdoor season on Friday at the Yellow Jacket Invitational, hosted by Georgia Tech. Two Tigers came out as winners on the first day of competition, wth Saturday slated to feature several of Clemson’s premier athletes. Antoinette Van der Merwe won the 100 meter hurdles event with a 13.43 time, best out of the pool of 24. Her mark was over .2 seconds faster than that of the runner-up. Caroline Johnston won the women’s long jump with a leap of 5.87 meters, achieved on her final attempt. The mark ties her number set at this year’s ACC Indoor Championships. Serena Clark and Courtney Williams finished neck and neck for second and third place in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.86 seconds. Competition tomorrow will begin at noon.
BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Clemson men’s track and field team finished third at ACC Indoor Championships this weekend. Two Tigers claimed individual conference titles, and the 4x400 meter relay team of Fabian Hewitt, Tarees Rhoden, Cameron Rose and Aman Thornton claimed the event championship. The women’s team finished the meet ninth overall in points. Friday’s events were highlighted by Daniel Cope claiming the men’s weight throw title with a school-record 22.28 meter toss. That mark also serves as the Jamaican national record in the event. On Saturday, Tarees Rhoden brought home two gold medals, first in the men’s 800 meter with a time of 1:48.62, followed by his participation in the relay team that earned first-team all-ACC honors.
