Gympie Magistrates Court heard Carr became aggressive towards his father, dragging him towards a gun safe in the living room. Carr then held his father from behind and pushed his head into the safe, saying, Open the f..king safe or I ll choke you. Police prosecutor Melissa Campbell told the court that during the struggle, the keypad to the safe was unlocked and it was later revealed to be a defective lock. The defendant let go of his father and proceeded to access the firearm from within safe, Sergeant Campbell said. The father has feared for his life and left the dwelling.

Police prosecutor Melissa Campbell said the staff member who called police was concerned for the safety of shoppers and asked Shipp to leave. A short time later (the staff member) has observed the same man in the car park assaulting a female driver of a vehicle, Sergeant Campbell said. When he saw police arrive, Shipp fled, but was found nearby heavily intoxicated. When asked by Magistrate Chris Callaghan why he assaulted a random woman, Shipp said he was upset and going through a bit of stress as he couldn t contact the parole office.

Premium Content Subscriber only A 51-year-old s criminal and traffic history was described as appalling and extensive when he faced court in Gympie on 14 charges this week. The list of offences ranged from drug driving to stealing from St Vinnies between June 22 and December 12 last year. Dean Anthony Lovett pleaded guilty to all 14 charges in Gympie Magistrates Court on Thursday where he appeared in custody via video link. The court heard Lovett had been in custody since December 23, when he racked up six charges on one day. Police prosecutor Michael Phillips said almost every possible sentence had been given to Lovett in the past, but he continued to breach orders and reoffend.
