A Fíanna Fáil Councillor claims a vote against zoning HSE land adjacent to the
Louth County Hospital for community facilities was a vote against the expansion of services and facilities at the hospital.
Nineteen Councillors backed a submission by the
Green Party s Marianne Butler,
Fine Gael s Maria Doyle and
Labour s Pio Smith to reject the Chief Executive s recommendation for the lands in Dundalk to remain zoned for community facilities and not residential use.
This reversed a change in zoning on foot of a submission by
Councillor Emma Coffey last autumn, after she was approached by an agent of the HSE who said zoning for community facilities would give them the opportunity to expand and develop new services adjacent to the hospital.
