So far, we know more than two dozen homes have been damaged and it is being blamed for at least one death. Lets get the latest on this fire. Reporter i am here at the recreation center. We are about 13 miles east from portar ranch and that is the area where we are seeing the height of fire activity. What i can tell you is we are waiting for a 1 pm briefing. We are hoping for an update at that point on some of the statuses on this fire. It is a fatal fire. There is one fatality associated with this fire. We were learning this morning about that. Were told it was a man in his 50s who went into cardiac arrest. As for the acreage at this point, it still stands at 4700 containment at 0 . This is a very active fire. If that line is energized, you would have an arc, a spark, and a potential ignition of wild fire. This is another example of the same thing. The wire down based on the tree blowing over. I said last night it was an extremely difficult decision for us to make. We know it would and did cause hardship for many of the people were privileged to serve and continued to cause hardship for those who are still without power tonight. Given the choice we face, the choice between hardship and safety, we chose safety. And safety will always be our first choice. Even in some areas with no wind issues power was interrupted nonetheless. A transition line can extend 100 miles and sometimes the terrain is treacherous. Our crews get out there and they inspect every inch of the line we deenergized. Reporter in anticipation of having power poles fail in the high wind areas, pg e put stores of extra poles around. Turns out that here on panoramic highway they actually needed one they had to replace. Pg e knows how frustrating it is to be without power. We know what it is like. We live and work in these communities and we understand it can be challenging. Pg any has no definitive answer on when the work will be done. But repairs will speed up as they get more work done.
