Orlando, FL – FSU’s Giulia Pairone has joined Nandini Das and Andrea Garcia as a newly minted ITA All-American. Pairone was a top 16 seed in the NCAA Singles Championships and has spent all of 2021 ranked among the top 12 singles players in the nation. Florida State’s three All-Americans in 2021 are a single-season record for the program and now five of the program’s nine All-Americans have come in the last two years. “Gules did an amazing job to earn All-America honors this season leading our team at the top spot all year,” said FSU Head Coach Jen Hyde. “Week-in-and-week-out she came across the best competition that college tennis has to offer and battled her way through to a very successful season. I’m so proud of Gules for the stellar year and college tennis career she has had.” Pairone started every match of the season on the top line for the Seminoles, except for one match she missed due to injury. She led the team in wins over ranked opponents with eight,

SWEET 16 BOUND!

Tallahassee, FL – For the third time under head coach Jen Hyde and the second time in the last three NCAA Tournaments, the FSU Women’s Tennis team is headed to the Round of 16. Florida State started strong and then had to fend off a late push by No. 19 Auburn before taking the match 4-1 to move on to Lake Nona with a trip to the quarterfinals up next. “That was an absolute battle, which is what we expected,” said Hyde. “It didn’t disappoint. I think today we got tougher and we were forced to get tougher by Auburn. They did a fantastic job. They fought so hard but at the end of the day, we fought a little harder at a couple of spots and were able to hang in there a little bit longer in some of the matches. We came up big in a couple different tiebreakers and in doubles. We overcame some deficits and fought our way back in.

Canes knock off rival Florida State but fall in ACC tournament semifinals

Freshman Isabella Pfennig yells in frustration after a point during Miami s match against Virginia on April 4 at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center. Photo credit: Alex Carnochan The Hurricanes’ hopes of an Atlantic Coast Conference women’s tennis championship ended with a 4-3 team loss to Georgia Tech Saturday. But before its tournament ended in Rome, Ga., Miami earned a couple of victories, including one over rival Florida State just two weeks after falling to the Seminoles in the regular season. No. 24 UM (14-8, 8-5 ACC) now awaits its NCAA Tournament fate, with selections announced May 3. Miami’s 4-1 win over FSU will certainly help its case in the committee’s eyes. After dropping a 4-3 heartbreaker at the ‘Noles on April 9 that was decided by a single match’s tiebreaker, the Hurricanes wasted little time securing the doubles point. The match, held at Georgia Tech, then proceeded into singles, where UM picked up right where they left off in doubles. FSU’s sole highligh
