Orlando, FL – FSU’s Giulia Pairone has joined Nandini Das and Andrea Garcia as a newly minted ITA All-American. Pairone was a top 16 seed in the NCAA Singles Championships and has spent all of 2021 ranked among the top 12 singles players in the nation. Florida State’s three All-Americans in 2021 are a single-season record for the program and now five of the program’s nine All-Americans have come in the last two years.
“Gules did an amazing job to earn All-America honors this season leading our team at the top spot all year,” said FSU Head Coach Jen Hyde. “Week-in-and-week-out she came across the best competition that college tennis has to offer and battled her way through to a very successful season. I’m so proud of Gules for the stellar year and college tennis career she has had.”
Pairone started every match of the season on the top line for the Seminoles, except for one match she missed due to injury. She led the team in wins over ranked opponents with eight, accounting for more than half of the team’s 14 wins versus ranked singles opponents. Half of her ranked victories came against Top 40 opponents. She also posted a 16-6 record in doubles play with two more wins versus ranked competition.
Pairone was named an All-ACC First Team selection in 2021 marking the third time she was named an all-conference first-team selection in a Power Five conference. In 2018 she was named a first-team All-SEC selection and in 2019 and 2020 she was named all-conference in the Big Ten. Pairone was also named ACC Co-Player of the Week after two conference wins in which she won two singles matches versus ranked opponents and both her doubles matches as well.
