Nintendo’s penchant for polishing up its best games for the ill-fated Wii U console and releasing them on Switch is a welcome boon for the Japanese game-maker’s hugely successful console. But Super Mario 3D World possibly the best Super Mario game you haven’t played is a particularly timely addition to the canon. At least it has been in my house.
Rattling through lockdown distractions for a family of four two adults, one eight-year-old and a four-year-old has been a challenge. Super Mario 3D World’s colourful and exuberant four-player co-op has been a tremendous salve, the youngster able to skitter freely around Nintendo’s candyland levels as the rest of us deal with its obstacles.
