Have been the president of the league of women voters for three years. Ive been sitting on the board for eight years. When i started my work with the league excuse me basically working hand in hand with the ballot simplification sitting member, whereby i developed the pro and con guide for the league and helped distribute that english, spanish, and chinese. Ive never been to a Hearing Committee meeting because of the nature of my relationship with the pro and con guide meant that i met regularly with adele for briefing. I guess speaking to the residency waiver that im asking for, i used to be a San Francisco resident. I lived in district three, i lived in district two, and as we discussed at great length this afternoon, i had to leave the city. I couldnt afford to live here anymore. I couldnt afford to raise a family here, and yet my dedication to San Francisco continues now with sitting on the board and now acting as the president of the league of women voters, and thank you. Have your back in terms of all people in our country, including people of color. This spending bill, it does just the opposite. I hope the members will understand the message that were sending to communities of color in this bill and rectify some of the problems. You have a chance to reject further institutionization of any quality and injustice and recognize how painful these cuts will be to people of color and women. Im going to give you my examples and my amendment shows what im talking about. The jackson Lee Butterfield amendment, this would increase funding by 16 million for the office of job corps. This amendment is fully offset with the department of Labor Administration funds. I offered a similar amendment in committee, and while that amendment failed, i believe that this amendment before us is not subject to point of order. Its critically important.
