Man convicted of Sweet Home murder sentenced to life in prison Page Lee Butterfield Posted: Apr 6, 2021 2:20 PM Updated: Apr 6, 2021 4:07 PM Posted By: Jolene Daib ALBANY, Ore. – Page Lee Butterfield of Turner was sentenced to life in prison for second-degree murder in the shooting death of Corey Burdick, 43, of Sweet Home.  He will be eligible for parole after 25 years in prison. Butterfield, 27, was also sentenced Tuesday to nearly six years in prison for second-degree assault for shooting Ervin Smith, 67, who survived. That sentence will be served after the murder sentence. Butterfield was also given an 18-month concurrent sentenced on a charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Turner man sentenced to life in prison for 2019 Sweet Home killing

K. RAMBO A Turner man found guilty in a 2019 Sweet Home murder was sentenced to life in prison Tuesday. Page Lee Butterfield, 27, was sentenced to life with no possibility of parole for 25 years for second-degree murder in the death of Corey Burdick, 43, by Linn County Circuit Court Judge Thomas McHill. Butterfield was also sentenced to 10 years for second-degree assault in the shooting of Ervin Smith, 67, and 18 months for a felon in possession of a firearm charge. Those terms will be served concurrently with the life sentence. Butterfield’s court-appointed attorney, John Rich, said the sentence was no surprise because the crimes carried Measure 11 mandatory minimum sentences. However, Rich described the verdict as a “miscarriage of justice” and has already started the appeal process.
