Reporter this is a very sad Christmas Morning for at least several families here in the bay area. We are in front of what has been the scene for hours here on 880 south near southland mall. That is the chp car that was hit from behind. There is debris everywhere on the freeway, on this offramp, across all lanes. Now, i want to just show you right across from this offramp here, thats the other car that was involved, this red car where you see the front left side smashed in, ending up across the freeway. The chp is being very tight lipped about this accident. They confirmed at least two chp officers were seriously injured as well as the driver of that red car. The accident happened around 11 45 p. M. , Christmas Eve, again, near 880 south near winton by the mall. Investigators arent giving specifics about the injuries or confirming if anyone has passed. Accident was on the freeway. Traffic investigators have been going back and forth between the two cars. One of them was a chp car that was destroyed by the impact. We have called them several times. They are not providing details on the officers conditions. Two officers have been injured. The conditions of the driver of the red car is not known. We do not know what led to the accident. We have confirmed that around 11 45 on Christmas Eve, the cars collided near winston avenue. It appears that the driver of the red car crash into the chp vehicle from behind. After that it went across the freeway and across the offramp. We called chp a few minutes ago, they said they would not provide updates on the investigation or those injured until a News Conference, plan this morning at 9 00, takes place.
