We have confirmed that around 11 45 on Christmas Eve, the cars collided near winston avenue. It appears that the driver of the red car crash into the chp vehicle from behind. After that it went across the freeway and across the offramp. The catches were a black friday purchase. The other furniture is handme downs. home looks a little different. Everything is newer donated. If there has been an immense amount of support from family and friends and community in general. We have a lot of gifts and supplies. For 9 years home was north of town. It was tucked in the hills. This was their secluded retreat. The north bay fires came so quickly on october 8, and in just a moment, a normal night turned into a race to escape the flames. You can see it through the trees. The day we visited their old home, the wind was screaming through the trees as we walked up the driveway. At the wind is making me nervous. It was like this that night. They will never forget that night. After the family dinner with her two children already tucked in their beds, the howling winds and the deadly fire came on really fast. As i came around the corner and saw that, i sought to the trees ahead of us, a wall of orange. A major heart skip a moment. I dont think i will ever forget hearing the wind, and sing that. I sprinted up the hill. I found her on the phone with 911. My 911 call was at 9 41. Victoria was supposed to be asleep. They like to look out the bedroom window. She says mom, theres an orange glow out the window, what is it . I went into the bathroom, pulled back the curtain. I saw a wall of orange. Finding a home is only half of the battle. The hickmans had enjoyed a low fixed rent for many years. This home cost more. Family members offered to help, but making the numbers work took some work. That is where the chronicle season of sharing fund stepped in. The fund provides temporary assistance to people in need in the bay area. It paid the hickmans first months rent. Our new rent payment is double what we were paying before. Having one month taking care of, that is a sizable chunk. If you blend that over the next year, it makes this place more affordable for us. As they build this new home, they are grateful for the help that continues to come in. The bunkbed, mangled by fire and the childrens old room, has been replaced. The two kids had to share room before. Now they have separate spaces. To make their 12yearold daughter, victoria, now has a pink carpet. Her dresser came from friends in concorde. Her sexual brother, alex, sleeps on the bed lot with gift cards from community groups. He plays at a table full of donated legos. We had a mountain of legos at the old house. He has been getting donations from people. That was one of the things to try to get him back to normal. The Christmas Tree is already up. Its decorated by ornaments that have come from family, friends, and strangers. The train comments right where should be. The mac we have a new train set. That was important for our son. He loves trains. While there are things that cannot be replaced. these are the goblets from our wedding. She found them. Thats one of the first thing she found. This to eiffel towers were on the property. The orange one is all rusted, because of the fire. The hickmans say they feel lucky. They are lucky that after serving for two months, their cat twinkie made it to a neighbors house. December 1, i checked my facebook page, and there it was , from my neighbor. She posted a picture of the cat. The mac she made it. I was not expecting to see her again. They feel lucky to celebrate in a home that was built of the generosity of countless people. I house the reminds them, even on the tough days, they are not alone. The people that came out of the woodwork, we never thought of them, there are people that have done major donations for us in one way or another. Weathers been money, gift cards, physical things, this is becoming home. This year, we are truly thankful for everything, and how it is all gone down. It is an interesting site. People are cleaning up the debris from this damaged car. This is Highway Patrol officers. These are peers of the officers who were injured, and the one who has passed. Usually do not see this at a crash. Its usually other workers. You are seeing the peers of the two involved in the accident, cleaning up the debris from that crash. There cleaning this up, tow trucks have arrived. Once these vehicles get on the tow truck had, they will reopen billings the lanes. There was an accident around 11 40 5 pm. That was on Christmas Eve. That involved this chp patrol car, with two officers inside. There was a second, read sedan with one driver. That third person, was seriously injured. Chp has acknowledged that one of its own is been killed in an overnight accident. A second officer remains hospitalized this morning. The crash happened just before midnight on 880 s. Thats were a find candace when, who is life. Shes been there all morning long, getting the latest information. Reporter we do not know the exact condition of the second officer. A short time ago, chp confirmed that they have lost one of their own after this Christmas Eve accident. Behind me, they are still clearing the scene even after eight hours. The officers are cleaning the last of the debris. Right over there, the sun is shining, that is a chp vehicle that was involved. It up on the tow truck. The red car was the second involved. It happened around 11 45 last night. And involved two cars, red sedan and a chp vehicle. Third car was involved. The darkcolored sedan, it played a minor role. We do not know what led to the crash. On the senior, we saw the front of the red car was severely damaged. The back of the chp car was smashed in. The driver of the sedan was also hospitalized, according to investigators. She says mom, there is an orange glow out the window, what is that . I went into the bathroom and pulled back the curtain. I saw a wall of orange. They could not escape down the driveway because a tree had fallen. They used a fire road. We had no time to grab anything other than a lockbox. We had to leave our account our cat behind. It was an outdoor cat. A lot of things broke just right for us to be old to get out of here in the time that we did. By morning, they knew they could not go back. Since then, they have been trying to move forward. For dan hickman, that meant finding a new home. That wednesday, right after the fire started, i jumped on craigslist and started looking. He found this one, it was still being renovated. He applied right away. He knew they were not the only ones facing this long road of recovery. We had an easier time getting in, because the first day we came in, he made a reference to having received numerous phone calls from third party Insurance Companies and the like you are looking to replace homes for other victims of the fire. Finding a home is only half the battle. The hickmans had enjoyed a low fixed rent for many years. This home cost more. Family members offered to help, but making the numbers work took some work. That is where the chronicle season of sharing fund stepped in. The fund provides temporary assistance to people in need in the bay area. It paid the hickmans first months rent. Arraigned that mike our rent payment is double what we are paying before. Having one month taking care of, that is a sizable chunk. When you went that out over the next year, it makes this place much more affordable. Demand as they build this new home, they are grateful for the help that continues to come in. The bunkbed that was mangled by fire and the childrens old room has been replaced. Directed two kids had to share room before. Now they have separate spaces. The 12yearold daughter, victoria, now has a pink carpet. Her bed came from lake county. Her dresser on the bookshelf came from friends in concorde. Her 6yearold, brother alex, has a bed from ikea. He plays at a table filled with donated legos. Mag we had a mountain of legos at the old house. He has been getting donations from people. That was one of the things to try to get him back to normal. The Christmas Tree is already up. Its decorated by ornaments that have come from family, friends, and strangers. The train is right where it should be. That the new train set. Thats important for our son. He loves trains. While there are, of course, things that cannot be replaced. To mac these are our toasting goblets from our wedding. After two months, there cat twinkie made it to a neighbors house. On december 1, i checked my facebook page, thered was from my neighbor. She posted a picture of a cat. To mac she made it. I was not expecting to see her again. They are celebrating the season that was literally built out of the generosity of many people. A house reminds them that even on the tough days that they are not alone. The people that came out of the woodwork, people would never even thought of, there are people that have done major donations for us in one way or another. Whether it was money, gift cards, physical things, this is becoming home. This year we are truly thankful for everything, and how it has all gone down. She started doing a lot of things she could never do before. I cant do everything. I cannot fly. I cant fly either. When shriners got a call from a new day pet rescue that they had a kitten with three legs, and wanted to find a child who could empathize. Mimic shriners made the connection. Kitten, ticket. To kid. I was crying. Its amazing. It is hard to say who will be helping him. Its nice to know that the family knows what the cat is going through. Its not a limitation.
