marginalized on college campuses like that you don t have a chance for white students in general to actually intermingle with other black students. so you feel comfortable. the thing about that video that really got me was not just what he was saying but how comfortable he felt actually saying it. he felt comfortable saying it because he recognized from the fact not only were there no african-americans present but also didn t have anyone else who was even thought that someone may object to it except for the person who actually took the video. and andrew in terms of the culture of those fraternities do you agree in the sense these people may be swhag they believe and surrounded by like-minded people or more once you re part of a frat you re forced to doing certain things. we ve heard of hazing as part of initiation. maybe you re coerced to do something you wouldn t normally do if you weren t among your brothers? right. right. i mean i think we need to talk about the collective asp
thing. lot of people are giving them credit for doing that. they had to. the scandal at the university has been boiling over. anger on campus. fraternity members may have seen this by now seen on video singing this racist song. not just students who are angry. the university president calls the frat brothers a disgrace. abc s ryan owens is there. reporter: it is more than moving day at the sigma alpha epsilon fraternity house at university of oklahoma. the greek letters have come down. the fraternity is kicked off campus. reporter: all after this 9-second video showing sae members in tuxedos chanting the n word and implying blacks should be lynched rather than be in their fraternity. the video went viral sunday night after it was texted anonymously to a group of african-american students on campus. this is not anything that happened overnight.

discrimination there at the university that needs to be addressed, or is this just an issue amongst this particular frat? you know i believe that fraternity especially, they have shown over and over that they re not interested in being clus inclusive of all cultures. our university is not like that. as president born has said for the most part we have continued to progress. we have been great in doing diversity enrichment programs and we re going to continue to do that on this campus. how do you think this incident has impacted just the morale, especially of african-americans at ou? you know, i am, along with my peers and friends frustrated that we are still continuing to have these kind of dialogues, that they re still needed. i ve told a couple of friends
we have some video of the performance you did at the university of oklahoma last year. looks like it was a large concert in the woods. it s a great video. this looks like the typical college experience partying drinking with people there. i know you were able to hang out with some of these guys. did you experience any racism any animosity that day? not at all. i feel like i was part of the frat. i felt like i was a frat boy in the woods. i really felt like i was down with the fraternity. i was sae. you couldn t tell me no different. for me to see that video i was like that s what you ll doing behind closed doors. that s disgusted me. i really can t blame the kids. i feel like that s passed down. you can t even make me believe, that s just crazy. i m disgusted. how do you reconcile that? the people who made you feel so welcomed behave like that.
