the so-called men in this video are from a frat that shut down the chapter on sunday and this morning students in the community gathered in protest calling on the university s president to take more action. miguel marquez is following the story for us. good morning. reporter: good morning. this is like a rifle shot through the university of oklahoma. this has caused so many issues for the university already this morning. the s.e.a. chapter has been disbanded. the president of the s.e.a. chapter at the end of his statement said he hoped that they might be able to reconstitute the chapter at some point. i think everybody involved at this point thinks it s a little early for that. the president of ou has called for an investigation. it s not clear what the scope of that investigation will be. he does have a press conference on the steps of evans hall at
many people are praising president boren saying this is not a cookie-cutter response and he took swift action. you can tell he is upset and showing in his staples. he said this is not our way, this is not our values and making a definitive statement saying this fraternity would not be coming back at least while i m president. do you think the community the sooner community supports that? yes i do. it seems like everyone i ve talked to has supported the president s decision and there aren t really anybody that has said what sigma alpha epsilon has done has been justifiable. so when we talk about what is happening to the frat house, the students being thrown out and the frat closed do you think there should be something done harder or people calling in thinks something harsher should be done to the kids. the university president said he is not sure how much more of a harsh penalty he can deliver
the black groups want it broader. they say this is the tip of the iceberg. when you start to scratch below the surface you will find this behavior amongst fa ternties and other places wide spread. the fraternity has been fighting overtime to fight the stigma of what some people say sae should really stand for. you ve been talking about today s incident. pu there has been a lot of bad behavior plout this fa ternty. there are women and others who say that sae should really stand for sexual assault expected because of some of the bad behavior in the past. incidents that have been documented. it s had to tackle numerous violations for alcoholism. since 2006, according to bloomberg, at least 10 members of this frat have died in
