Along and south of i80, the winter storm warning until midnight. North of i80, the winter storm warning until 6 am tuesday. The snow will continue, heavy at times, this evening. Snowfall rates of 1 inch per hour are possible through 7 pm. Winds will be strong from the northeast at 20 to 25 mph and gusts up to 35 mph. This may lead to near whiteout and blizzard conditions at times. Widespread totals of 6 to 10 inches are likely, with the heaviest snow falling north of des moines from carroll and fort dodge, along highways 20 and 30 into eastern and ne iowa.
