This is all part of that massive weather system sweeping across the country. Lets get right to meteorologist Brett Mcintyre for a look at how much des moines public works crews have been on the roads all day. For the second time this season crews are putting a new snow plow tactic to the test. Its called the wing formation. Street at the same time in one pass. The city also put down a salt brine public works direction says despite the cooler temperatures. The salt is working exactly as it should 540123 weve got a layer of salt brine down on all of the snow routes on dry pavement now there is layer of salt under the snow. So when the last snow plow goes over the snow routes they will drop another layer of rock salt on top of that last little bit that can get scrapped off to find out when snow plows are expected to hit your street. Des Moines Police are investigating the citys 21st homicide of the year. Two people were shot at this apartment complex last night. The search for the gunman continues tonight. Police say the shooting happened in a hallway at this south union apartment. 36yearold Tacono Conner was killed. 37year old amy stolki was wounded but is expected to survive. Officers arent sure what led to the shooting. Illinois state police are investigating a bus crash in chicago that claimed the life of a des moines woman. Police say 21 year old nicole bus she was riding in crashed just a few miles from its destination. The burlington trailways charter bus was on its way from omaha to chicago. The driver says he swerved to avoid a pickup that veered into his lane. Before hitting a concrete median. Six people were injured and taken to area hospitals. Burlington says the bus gps system shows it was traveling 49miles per hour in a 55 speed zone at the time of the accident.
