They took a decisive and final vote to remove the Confederate Flag from statehouse grounds. This idea long debated gained new life after last months massacre at a black church in charleston. The South Carolina senate had passed the bill to take down the Confederate Flag. Last night, it was up to the house to go along. Some members tried to tack on amendments and use parliamentary procedures. In the end the measure did pass. House members debated nearly 13 hours early into this morning before approving the bill 9
That time some storms to start to move into areas like Lancaster County berks county poconos, Lehigh Valley you should already start seeing storms by 6 00 p. M. Then that threat shifts over to the east a little more so upper Montgomery County Chester County upper bucks county moving still through the allentown area by 7 00 p. M. And then that whole area slides through philadelphia. We could also see storms in parts of delaware into south jersey. That would be by 8 00 this evening. At this time we do expect some of these storms to be strong to severe. Then we will continue seeing this whole area shift off through new jersey heading to the shore closer to 9 00 and then by 10 00, i think the threat should be mostly over. But either way we are tracking severe storms off to our west right now. They are approaching so coming up we will give you a closer look at the timing as they move in and what you can expect locally. That we should see an increase in the strength of these storms. Thats whats happening and thats why the severe thunderstorm watch has been extended into the philadelphia area and new jersey. The flood threat for tonight is actually less than it was yesterday but a lot of lightning and also a lot of high winds. Those are the main threats. Up in salem county, just to the east of Pennsville Salem is getting a lightning show this morning. Its heading towards woolwich and gloucester. A heavy shower is popping up over chester as well. Its a line of showers that extends now into bucks county. This leading edge is moving faster. Its moving to the northeast at 30 miles an hour. So it will quickly move through the area. Look at this heavy rainfall. The rain tapers off. The rain is already starting to settle down. Which is a sign these storms are weakening. But there is rain on the ground. It will take some time for the rain to come downhill towards lower lying roads and thats the potential for flash flooding. A warning is in effect.
