ââAfter being here for 120 days, I can reassure the township residents that, at least since Iâve been here, theyâre very lucky because we have loyal, long-term experienced and extremely dedicated staff here at the township, and itâs only getting better,â Lorraine said. âI was very happy the board supported it in all four cases. They were well deserved.â
âLorraine thanked the board and the Personnel Committee. He said although he was a township trustee for many years, his view of the townshipâs day-to-day operations became clearer after working as the township supervisor.
ââAfter five months on the job, he has found all four administrative employees to be supportive, dedicated, loyal and hard-working. The Township Board and residents are fortunate to have such a dedicated management team and staff,â according to the minutes.
âOn Monday, April 19, the Fenton Township Board of Trustees held the first reading for a request to split and rezone a parcel owned by Lake Fenton Community Schools to satisfy state requirements in regards to soil and underground storage tanks.
âThe Fenton Township Planning Commission approved the request.
âThe applicant, which is LFCS, requested to split the parcel, which includes the bus garage, from the main area and rezone the land. The parcel number is No. 06-02- 300-047 at 11425 Torrey Road, and itâs 1.43 acres.
âItâs a conditional rezoning from R-4, Single Family Residential to C-1 Local Business to satisfy requirements by the Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE). Underground storage tanks were removed from the area in 1998, according to the application, but the affected soil was not.
âAt the Monday, April 19 meeting, the Fenton Township Board of Trustees held the first reading of an ordinance that would rezone property at the southeast corner of Linden and Lahring roads from planned unit development (PUD) to agriculture (AG).
âThe applicant, Empyrean Group, LLC, plans to create six five-acre properties along Lahring Road, with one along Linden Road, under the Land Division Act. The remainder of the property would remain undeveloped.
âThe 110-acre property was rezoned to PUD from AG in 2001 for a subdivision, said Michael Deem, zoning administrator. The PUD was never acted upon and a subdivision was never built. This change would return it to its original zoning, which is consistent with the Fenton Township zoning map. The Fenton Township Planning Commission recommended approval.
âThe Fenton Township Board of Trustees voted to award a contract for lawn, landscape and beach maintenance services to Michigan DPW, LLC.
âDuring a virtual meeting Monday, April 5, the board approved the four-year contract, from April 1, 2021 through March 31, 2025, for an estimated annual cost of $19,997.
âThis includes handling seasonal and regular lawn maintenance at the Fenton Township Civic Community Center, Fire Station #1 and Fire Station #2, Podunk House and Museum, Gage Cemetery, Odell Cemetery and Long Branch Cemetery and the U.S. 23/Thompson Road interchange.
âThomas Broecker, operations manager and deputy clerk, wrote in the meeting packet, âMichigan DPW has been providing lawn services to Fenton Township since 2011 and they do an excellent job. Based on the proposal analysis and prior experience, I recommend that the township board award the contract to Michigan DPW, LLC, and approve the attached lawn, landscape and beach maintenance services
