âIt also was Lorraineâs first in-person meeting as supervisor. He was voted in November 2020.
ââI love it. I felt very comfortable,â he said. âIâm having a lot of fun.â
âThe last in-person board meeting at the township was March 2, 2020.
âThe meeting room, in the lower level of the Fenton Township Civic Community Center, doesnât look like it did pre-pandemic. Fewer chairs are placed around the room. However, six large screens show how the board is committed to maintaining virtual access for anyone who wishes to attend a meeting.
âMeetings will take place on Zoom and in person. Two large monitors are placed behind the township board, which show the audience whoâs talking on Zoom, and two screens are placed to the side of the board. These large monitors display the agenda and information from the meeting packet.

ââAfter being here for 120 days, I can reassure the township residents that, at least since Iâve been here, theyâre very lucky because we have loyal, long-term experienced and extremely dedicated staff here at the township, and itâs only getting better,â Lorraine said. âI was very happy the board supported it in all four cases. They were well deserved.â
âLorraine thanked the board and the Personnel Committee. He said although he was a township trustee for many years, his view of the townshipâs day-to-day operations became clearer after working as the township supervisor.
ââAfter five months on the job, he has found all four administrative employees to be supportive, dedicated, loyal and hard-working. The Township Board and residents are fortunate to have such a dedicated management team and staff,â according to the minutes.
âAt the Monday, April 19 meeting, the Fenton Township Board of Trustees held the first reading of an ordinance that would rezone property at the southeast corner of Linden and Lahring roads from planned unit development (PUD) to agriculture (AG).
âThe applicant, Empyrean Group, LLC, plans to create six five-acre properties along Lahring Road, with one along Linden Road, under the Land Division Act. The remainder of the property would remain undeveloped.
âThe 110-acre property was rezoned to PUD from AG in 2001 for a subdivision, said Michael Deem, zoning administrator. The PUD was never acted upon and a subdivision was never built. This change would return it to its original zoning, which is consistent with the Fenton Township zoning map. The Fenton Township Planning Commission recommended approval.
