Township approves Miller Industries expansion

Zoning for 110-acre property on Linden and Lahring roads likely to change

At the Monday, April 19 meeting, the Fenton Township Board of Trustees held the first reading of an ordinance that would rezone property at the southeast corner of Linden and Lahring roads from planned unit development (PUD) to agriculture (AG).  The applicant, Empyrean Group, LLC, plans to create six five-acre properties along Lahring Road, with one along Linden Road, under the Land Division Act. The remainder of the property would remain undeveloped.  The 110-acre property was rezoned to PUD from AG in 2001 for a subdivision, said Michael Deem, zoning administrator. The PUD was never acted upon and a subdivision was never built. This change would return it to its original zoning, which is consistent with the Fenton Township zoning map. The Fenton Township Planning Commission recommended approval.
