Clemson Advances Three to NCAA Finals Friday
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Laurie Barton, Trishauna Hemmings and Terryon Conwell each advanced out of their respective preliminary heats during Friday’s action at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships. On Saturday, Barton will be competing in her second career NCAA indoor final, while Hemmings and Conwell will each compete in their first.
“We’re excited to have three athletes advance in three events,” said Clemson’s Director of Track & Field, Mark Elliott. “While we hoped to have had six athletes advance, these are the top 16 athletes in the nation for each event and we’re happy with the three we have moving on.”
The Journey to Fayetteville: Fabian Hewitt

Fabian Hewitt has been a pillar of consistency throughout the 2021 campaign for the Clemson track and field program, having steadily contributed across various events. A top-class performance by Hewitt during the final of the 60 meters at the ACC Championships saw the senior from St. Catherine, Jamaica, capture his first ACC title and set a dazzling new personal best while punching his ticket to the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships. But before competing against the conference’s finest, Hewitt began by competing on Jan. 9.
Meet Central CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson track and field program will be represented by six individuals at the 2021 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, set to run from Thursday, March 11, through Saturday, March 13. Clemson will have all six of its athletes open their competition on Friday, March 12. The University of Arkansas will host the meet at its Randal Tyson Track Center for the twelfth time in history and the first time since 2015. There's a lot of emotion flowing because I can still vividly remember being out in Albuquerque last year, watching Laurie [Barton] and Andrea [Foster] and all of our kids we had out there last year step off the track with tears in their eyes when we found out that the championships were canceled, said Clemson's Director of Track & Field, Mark Elliott. CLEMSON, S.C. The NCAA has announced its list of accepted athletes for the 2021 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships with Clemson set to be represented by six student-athletes. The Tigers’ contingent is made up of Trishauna Hemmings (60-meter hurdles, 200m), Laurie Barton (800m), Andrea Foster (800m), Terryon Conwell (200m), Fabian Hewitt (60m) and Giano Roberts (60m hurdles).
The competition will get underway on Thursday, March 11, and will go through Saturday, March 13, at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Ark. The indoor championships return to the University of Arkansas for the first time since 2015 and for the twelfth time in history. Clemson has won six national championships during indoor championships hosted by Arkansas.
CLEMSON, S.C. – The Florida State track and field team competed in the third and final day of the 2021 Atlantic Coast Conference Indoor Track and Field Championship. The women put on an impressive display to claim the ACC crown by scoring an amazing 95 points on the final day to jump and take first place. The men’s team claimed third place behind Virginia Tech and the University of North Carolina.
Florida State captured its fourth ACC women’s indoor championship, all of which have come under current head coach Bob Braman since 2009. The Seminoles have placed first in the last three women’s championships held at Clemson – 2014, 2018 and this season – and their four total ACC titles rank third in league history.
