Ladies and gentlemen, thank you all for coming. Im a visiting fellow at the American Enterprise institute and a columnist at the washington examiner, and i think that youve seen erupt around the country especially this last year a discussion on criminal Justice Reform on over criminalization and all sorts of things we will focus on a specific aspect of that. My thoughts on why i picked this i have libertarian leanings and justice and mercy need to play up. I dont think we will get into a question of are we locking up all the millions of people that we lock up makes our country safer that is a tricky question to debate. Once we put people in prison, are we doing anything to help them or just burning lives. When you having prison sentences that serves a deterrent effect so it serves some good. It keeps criminals off the streets theres some good there. We call these correctional facilities. Are they just making things worse . So given the debate for some extent of criminalization although

Conference here i covered that, but this is different. This time he talked about terrorism in philadelphia. Within moments of todays news conference, james comey erased any doubt about how to characterize last weeks attempted murder of Philadelphia Police officer jesse hartnett. We at the fbi level, through our joint Terrorism Task force, are investigating that attack as a terrorist attack. Reporter two days after the shooting, police got a tip the suspect may be part of a terrorist group. Director comey tells us theres no evidence of that. We see no indication he was part of an organized cell of any sort and no indication that there is any followon plot connected to that. Reporter comey says hes not sure how the suspect was radicalized. Archer is the second person arrested in less than a year in connection with terrorism. Good evening, my name is jaimie gerber, i am the project coordinator for project what, thank you for having the space here tonight for us to talk. Thank you for all your hard work on dgo 7. 04 and thank you so much for taking the time to include youth voices in this process. Project what is really excited and really grateful to know that the chief is designing officer trainings on trauma and its effect on children. We feel that this is a really important opportunity to continue to include youth voices and to include the impact on children when their parents are being incarcerated. Our ask as project what would be to hopefully be included in the designing and planning of these trauma trainings and to be a part of regular meetings with the department to kind of keep up with the progress and formulation of these trainings. So i come to this work as someone whose parents were not incarcerated when i was a young person and i have learned incredibly quickly that these youth who eithers have
