I know weve had a long meeting, but i think this is important and i want to thank you for making time for this today. Earlier this year, massive rainfalls resulted in flooding along the embarcadero and other low lying areas of our city. Folks, Climate Change isnt coming, its already here. Last year, a group of climate advocates, some of whom are here today asked my office to work with them on declaring a Climate Emergency in San Francisco. Other communities had already taken the steps of declaring a Climate Emergency and those areas saw San Francisco as a local model should join them. The resolution called for the San Francisco department of the environment along with the Mayors Office and relevant city agencies to develop and submit a report on department the findings.
