We start with Climate Change because European Union leaders have failed to agree a target of zero net greenhouse emissions by 2050. France and germany were among some of the nations pushing for the pledge to go Carbon Neutral into decades but failed to get unanimous agreement at the summit in brussels. This after opposition from some Eastern European countries over the cost to their economies. The eu has already agreed to cut Greenhouse Gas emissions by at least 40 from the 1990 levels by 20 to 30. And there has been some progress here. Emissions from the eu have fallen by 2296 emissions from the eu have fallen by 22 since between 1990 and 2017 but climate Scientists Say that is just not enough. This month, the uk became the very first major economy, really, to make a legal commitment to Carbon Neutrality by 2050. Here is one of the big problems the european reliance on coal.
