Delhi experienced severe cold day conditions on Thursday, with temperatures dipping by 6 degree Celsius, according to the Safdarjung weather station. On Thursday, Delhi recorded a maximum of 12.5 degrees Celsius 6.8 degrees below normal at the Safdarjung observatory.
Data from the BSES shows that Delhi’s peak power demand in the winter has remained below 5,000 MW from the 2015-16 winter to the 2018-19 winter. This winter, the peak power demand is expected to hit 5,760 MW.

“The average daily AQI for Delhi during the entire year 2023 has been the best so far since 2018… barring 2020, which saw an exceptional AQI owing to continued spells of lockdown and low anthropogenic activities round the year (because of Covid lockdowns), the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) said in a statement.
