One of the biggest fires is in the north bay. It spans napa, sonoma, and solano counties. Lets get to nbc bay areas cierra johnson. This is where the Evacuation Orders have just been issued. Since the suns come up, weve really been able to get a better feel for just how dangerous this fire was. At last check it was 46,000 acres that this fire caused by lightning a couple days ago has burned through earlier this morning before the Evacuation Order was even put into place, folks were leaving because of just how bad things were. This is a cattle ranch im on. And you can see bales of hay just going up in flames. Entire homes were destroyed. 50 structures in all is the latest count that were burned. These are the battalion chiefs and operations personnel. Theyre getting ready for an update that they will give us at the 6 am hour. Right where we are standing, they were going on as business as usual but now where we are standing right now, this is all or under an order. The city of Scotts Valley west of highway 17 is forced to leave. This how shows how vast of an area it is. It is bounded by la honda to the north and highway 17 to the east and uc santa cruz to the southern by the Pacific Ocean to the west. At last count that is 48,000 people in that dark red area.
