A machete confronted another individual in the parking lot outside the Champion Center and then went inside. He was confronted by police. I asked police if they had a conversation with the man. I dont know if youd call it truly a conversation but there was dialogue back and forth asking the suspect to put down the weapon. And that person did not comply. During an afternoon News Conference cu police chief zach said the suspect confronted a patient being treated at the he made threatening and harassing statements to the patient at which time the patient entered the center and went to the second floor. So first im going to turn it over to chancellor for a few words. Thank you, ryan. Today we experienced a threatening situation folsom field Champion Center. At approximately 9 15 a. M. A 911 call was received regarding an individual threatening people with a machete outside the facility. Officers from the cu boulder and city of Boulder Police departments responded quickly and within minutes and brought the situation under control. Specific details of the incident will become available as the investigation takes its like this fuel confusion and misinformation. Police had a number of calls related to incidents that subsequently turned out to be false. We determined there was no active threat to campus. There is no continuing Public Safety threat.
