Bengaluru: IAF sets up COVID care centre for public at Jalahalli station ANI | Updated: May 04, 2021 15:02 IST
Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], May 4 (ANI): The Indian Air Force (IAF) has decided to establish a COVID treatment facility with 100 beds at Air Force Station Jalahalli, in order to assist general public of Bengaluru reeling under the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic.
An official press release stated that the facility will be operational on May 6 with only 20 beds and oxygen concentrators at first.
Once oxygen availability is ensured by the state government, the remaining 80 beds are expected to be operational by May 20. Of the total 100 beds, there will be 10 ICU beds and 40 beds with piped oxygen. The remaining 50 beds will have oxygen concentrators, said IAF.

Vaccination is one of the biggest weapons in the world s battle with Covid-19 but the number of mutations that the virus has gone under over the last year or so has made this fight difficult. Research on the samples collected in Bengaluru shows that the SARS-CoV-2 variant found in the city is mutating faster than any other known variant.
The research was conducted by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) scientists according to which a total of 27 mutations in the genomes of three isolates were found, with more than 11 mutations in each sample. Bengaluru: In what could hint towards probable flouting of social distancing norms at a time when cases of coronavirus are on a decline, 103 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in Bengaluru. The cases were detected after group attended a party in the city earlier this month.
The entire apartment has now been converted into a containment zone. The testing of residents was undertaken after some of the neighbours showed symptoms of COVID-19. Over 1000 people were tested by the administration, and 103 have tested positive so far.
