The Bombay High Court was informed that the 17-year-old pregnant girl did not wish to initiate criminal proceedings against her minor partner as their relations were consensual.
"In India, it is open for anybody to change religion. An oral or written declaration does not constitute conversion. Credible proof of desire to convert is required," the Court said.
The Court was hearing a plea to quash a case filed against the principal of a school who was booked under the Juvenile Justice Act for taking school children to a road show with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
