CJI DY Chandrachud was speaking at a full-court reference held at the Supreme Court today in honour of late veteran lawyer Fali Nariman who passed away on February 21, 2024.
"The instant case is a classic case of blind faith and unfortunate realities of our times," the Court remarked while condemning the persistence of human sacrifice rituals in remote areas.
The Delhi High Court is hearing a plea by Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal who has challenged his March 21 arrest by the ED and subsequent remand in connection with the Delhi excise policy case.
"It does not appeal to one's mind that in a broad day light at a crowded Juhu Chowpatty on the day Id-Ul-Fitra, the (accused) would commit forcible sexual intercourse. No sane man would believe it," the Court said.
