LIVE: Sarpy County board conducts hearing on treasurer’s removal WOWT Staff Reports © Provided by Omaha WOWT Sarpy County Treasurer Brian Zuger PAPILLION, Neb. (WOWT) - After meeting in closed session on Tuesday morning, the Sarpy County board moved forward with its hearing in the afternoon on whether to remove its treasurer. Last month, state auditors said Sarpy County Treasurer Brian Zuger overpaid or underpaid millions of dollars in public funds to different school districts. Zuger argues that the violations started under the previous treasurer. On Monday night, an injunction was requested in the matter with Zuger’s attorney arguing that the board doesn’t have the power to remove an elected official from office.

Sarpy County Board Moves Forward To Remove Department Head

By Terry Leahy Mar 12, 2021 A spokesperson says the Board of Commissioners sets a hearing date of April 13th to discuss the removal of County Treasurer Brian Zuger, who has 20 days to respond to the formal notice. If he does, he can appear at the hearing to present evidence in his defense. The board will vote on his removal at the end of the hearing, which is set for 9 a.m. Zuger is accused of mismanaging 12 million dollars in public funds. (Photo from Sarpy County Government)  

Sarpy County Moves To Oust Treasurer

Credit Omaha World Herald The Sarpy County Commission is moving forward with legal action to remove County Treasurer Brian Zuger from office.  The commission s vote comes after the Nebraska State Auditor released a report that identified numerous issues in the Sarpy County Treasurer s Office that impacted more than 12-point-five-million-dollars in public funds.  According to the report, some districts were either overpaid or underpaid in property tax disbursements.  Tags:
