ANN ARBOR, MI A nearly 25,000 square-foot retail development is moving forward in Ann Arbor.
Lewis Jeweler in December 2020 proposed to develop three buildings at 300 S. Maple Road, where the former Quarter Bistro restaurant was located.
City Council approved the plans on Monday, March 15. The jewelry store, which sells engagement rings, wedding banks, timepieces, certified loose diamonds and fashion jewelry, is currently located at 2000 W. Stadium Blvd. but announced plans in 2020 to move into a larger space.

ANN ARBOR, MI A new townhouse-style condo development on Main Street could be cleared to move forward soon.
The Ann Arbor City Council voted unanimously Monday night, March 15, to give its initial OK to rezone the property at 700 N. Main St. to allow Auburn Hills-based Trowbridge Companies to build 22 market-rate condos.
The project, called Near North, is now due for final council approval April 19.
The site is across from the Ann Arbor Community Center, where an affordable housing project stalled several years ago and a row of eight houses was demolished.

New apartments for University of Michigan students coming to Ann Arbor’s Main Street

ANN ARBOR, MI Plans for a new 36-bed apartment building catering to University of Michigan students are now approved for development on Ann Arbor’s Main Street.
City Council voted unanimously Tuesday night, Feb. 16, to OK the project at 907 and 913 S. Main St.
“We are seeking to break ground late spring or early summer with the goal of completion prior to July 2022,” said Satch Chada of New York City-based Nest Capital Management LLC, the UM alumnus behind the project.
Two rental houses are to be demolished and replaced by a three-story building with six six-bedroom apartments.

ANN ARBOR, MI Ann Arbor’s population is mostly white, and with high median incomes and housing prices to match, many who can afford to live here are doing pretty well financially.
But city leaders hope to move the needle on increasing diversity of the city’s residents in the coming years, creating more opportunity for people of color to live here. That’s now officially listed among the city’s strategic objectives.
