Go back to school. Classes start today and Lakewood Police are reminding everyone to watch out for those little ones walking to school. There are156 schools with about 86thousand students returning to classrooms today. Officers with the Lakewood Police department are reminding everyone drivers, parents and students of all ages to stay safe. They say if youre driving near a school be aware everything from buses to students to bikes. Police also recommend that parents talk to their children and remind them to do things like use the crosswalk and stop, look and listen. Tarhonda thomas will be at bear tips coming up at 5. Hes accused of eating marijuana infused candy and killing his wife. And today we could learn if richard kirk is mentally fit to stand trial. We are live covering that case. Reporter after more of a year in delays in his Mental Health evaluation the report is finally ready. A judge will review and he will decide today if richard kirk is fitted stand trial. Last September Kirk changed his plea to guilty by reason of insanity and a judge will review that report and decide whether to set the case for for treatment. The defense suggests that when kirk killed his wife in may 2014 he was so impaired by the marijuana infused candy that he may not have intended to kill his wife.
