Go back to school. Classes start today and Lakewood Police are reminding everyone to watch out for those little ones walking to school. There are156 schools with about 86thousand students returning to classrooms today. Officers with the Lakewood Police department are reminding everyone drivers, parents and students of all ages to stay safe. They say if youre driving near a school be aware everything from buses to students to bikes. And back to school means back to homework. Kids are getting more and more tech savvy these days even when it comes to studying. Theres a big market for apps that help with penmanship, math, and science skills. And many students are all over it. Cut to teachers use an app called canvas where they post homework and extra study materials. Back in june toxic chemicals contaminated the Drinking Water in three southern colorado cities. Now Colorado HealthOfficials Say its highly likely that those chemicals came from fef foam used at Peterson Air Force base. The chemicals in question dont break down so boiling the water doesnt do anything. Residents in security, widefield and fountain all in El Paso County have laregly switched to bottled water. Water filters and ground water are also being used. Officials have not ruled out additional chemicals, but say the foam often used in air force training was the main culprit. A 10 year veteran of the Denver Police is on paid leave after shooting a officers found a volvo that had been carjacked in Arapahoe County over the weekend. They stopped the car at the Denver Community credit union off federal. Police say the driver had a gun. There was a chase and one suspect was shot in the leg. Police say all three people in the car were underage and all had warrants for their arrest. Dozens of police k9s gathered in boulder to prove just how powerful their noses are.
