Shepherd in Solo First Heading Into Tomorrow’s Final Round, Tigers in Sixth
CLEMSON, S.C. – Clemson junior Ivy Shepherd knocked one stroke off her opening round 69 in the second round of The Clover Cup, firing a four-under-par 68 to place her in solo first on the players leaderboard. The Tigers improved four spots as a team, finishing the day in sixth place with a 289 team score, 10 strokes better than yesterday’s 299 score.
The No. 8 Linn Grant of Arizona State sits one shot behind Shepherd with a three-under 69 on the day – six-under through 54-holes. Her teammate Alexandra Forsterling boasted an equal mark for the second round but remained in a two-way tie for third with YouSang Hou of Arizona.
Speckmaier Signs Contract With Washington Spirit
CLEMSON, S.C. – The Washington Spirit of the National Women’s Soccer League announced the signing of Mariana Speckmaier earlier today after drafting the senior forward with the 39th overall pick in the 2021 NWSL Draft. Speckmaier was one of four signees on the day, all of whom were selected in January’s NWSL Draft and have been training with the team during preseason since the beginning of February.
The native of Miami, Fla. was signed to a one-year deal with a one-year option. Most recently, Speckmaier competed in the fall campaign for the Tigers, making nine appearances with seven starts. Speckmaier netted two goals while adding an assist.
Shepherd Fires Opening Round 69, Tigers In 10th Position
CLEMSON, S.C. – Junior Ivy Shepherd led the way in the opening round of The Clover Cup with a three-under 69 to place her in a tie for third. As a unit, the Tigers wrapped up the first 18 holes of competition with a 299 team total (11-over), placing them 10th among the field.
The event, which is being hosted by Arizona State on the 6,184-yd, par 72 Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Ariz., is led by Arizona after the first round of action. The Wildcats fired an opening round 281 as a group to place themselves two strokes ahead of second place UNLV and five shots ahead of Houston.

In the lead-up to the 2021 MLS SuperDraft, excitement filled the air around the Clemson men’s soccer program, as many players on the fall roster cluttered mock drafts in the days leading up to Jan. 22.
