Sheena, that extreme heat has just been busted by the showers and storms you have been showing but we do have an official heat wave now and its going to continue. The heat advisory, that has been discontinued because the temperature has gone down. This is what it looked like this morning. The temperatures in the 70s to near 80 degrees, but as we go through the day, you can see going up through the 80s and into the 90s. By this afternoon, we were seeing temperatures of 90 degrees and now the rain has really knocked things down. The heat continues, its barely 90 because of the thunderstorms today but it is going to go back up over the next couple of days and the thunderstorms will not be here. That excessive heat warning has been canceled as the line of thunderstorms has brought the rain to knock down the temperatures and knock some of the humidity out of the air, too. It was really warm and humid early in the day and then just became hotter and more humid and we hit 87 degrees at noontime 88 degrees at 1 00 and there we go. 90 degrees at 2 00 just before the storms hit because it was already down to 74 in reading and 79 in allentown when they got the storms earlier. By 5 00 its now down to 77 in philadelphia but its back up to 82 in reading and allentown. The sun coming back out, warming things up again. Those storms put an end at least temporary end to the heat although we did get into the 90s in at least part of the area. It was a close call but we had temperatures going up from the 80s into the 90s in philadelphia. We got up to 90 degrees at 1 00 and the official high was 91 but you can see how much cooler it got north and west because the showers came in sooner. Then we dropped into the 70s as the showers came in and now we are all pretty comfortable. We now have an official heat wave, three days in a row of temperatures of 90 plus.
