Cultivated meat company Cell AgriTech says it is benefitting from Malaysia’s advantage as a cost-competitive manufacturing hub as it outlines plans to roll out its first cultivated meat product by 2025.
Fresh research out of the University of California, Davis suggests the global warming potential of cultured meat could be between 4-25 times higher than regular beef if a highly refined growth medium is used in its production.
The companies that cultivate the meat aim to eliminate harm to animals and drastically reduce the environmental impacts of raising them. It will initially be sold only at upscale restaurants.
