Scammers know you want a puppy for the pandemic: Here s how to avoid them | iNFOnews

December 19, 2020 - 6:00 PM The year 2020 was a time of financial hardship for many, but there s one group of people coming out on top scammers. The COVID-19 pandemic created the perfect situation for fraudsters restrictions kept people stuck at home, forced to move their social life, work and shopping online.  And plenty of people want company with so much time on their hands. The solution? Buy a pet, like a puppy. The Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre reports that from January to September 2020, Canadians lost $323,951 to pet scams. That s just shy of triple last year s total of $135,640, and there s still three months missing from this year s report.

Kamloops RCMP says no one was injured and the Dec. 18 fire is not considered suspicious. Kamloops s Sandman hotel commends Fast & Furious actor for giving rooms to homeless | iNFOnews

He said he saw a homeless family of six outside and gave them his comfortable place to stay.  The six people were directed to enter with their room keys through the underground parking to avoid being stopped at the front desk. The Sandman Signature Hotel confirmed in a statement Dec. 17 that Gibson had been their guest, and weren t aware that he d given his rooms to a homeless family.  We commend him for his generous act of kindness, but were not made aware of his donation as his guests entered the hotel through underground parking, bypassing the front desk, a representative said in a statement. 

Downtown Kamloops Christmas decorations targeted by thieves and vandals | iNFOnews

(BRIE WELTON / iNFOnews.ca) December 17, 2020 - 3:15 PM There are Grinches running amok in downtown Kamloops causing more havoc with Christmas decorations than ever before.  Over the past few weeks, the decorations put up by downtown businesses and the Kamloops Central Business Improvement Association have been repeatedly tampered with.  We’ll go set up, re-install and repair, and we’re greeted the next morning with discarded lights, and decorations that have been stolen, executive director Carl DeSantis said. It’s really frustrating for the businesses, it’s really frustrating for our community. Lights have been broken and scattered across the sidewalk, cut, stolen and even unplugged, affecting entire city blocks.

Image Credit: SUBMITTED / RCMP RCMP are asking for the public s assistance to locate a missing Kamloops man. Troy Hamilton was last seen several weeks ago in the West Columbia area of Kamloops, according to an RCMP media release.  He is known to spend time in both Kamloops and 100 Mile House. Police are concerned for his safety. Hamilton is described as 5 10 tall, 165 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. Anyone who has had contact with the missing person in the last few weeks, or knows of his whereabouts, are asked to call the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-888-222-2477.
