(BRIE WELTON / iNFOnews.ca) December 14, 2020 - 3:04 PM A Kamloops residence that was the target of a drive-by shooting two months ago went up in flames on Saturday. Kamloops RCMP were called to the residence in the 200 block of Willow Street Dec. 12 at 5:46 p.m., according to an RCMP media release. Officers found that the house was engulfed in flames and being suppressed by Kamloops Fire Rescue responders. A Way Home Kamloops hosted their annual Camp Out to End Youth Homelessness, Dec. 11 and 12, far surpassing the $50,000 goal, according to a Facebook post. Nigerian Oluwatobi Akinwumi is the woman behind Tobilicious, which began as an idea in class when she was completing her Masters in Business Administration. When I came here, it took me a while to settle in, said Akinwumi, 25. There were times I just wanted to go eat out, and I realized there were no African restaurants. It got her thinking, and when she was asked to come up with a business idea in school, she decided she would pitch a West African restaurant to her class.

The Thompson Nicola Branch of the B.C. Association of Social Workers will host a virtual memorial for Katherine McParland. Not long before her death on Dec. 4, McParland was honoured by the association with the Heart of the Grasslands Award. It was pretty much unanimous support for Katherine, association president Michael Crawford said. It is unusual to give someone this award so early in their career, but she d earned it, he said.
