We are seeing stocks fall to their lows of the session. Weve seen a sharp gyration during the course of the session thus far. Some of it appears to be driven by oil, perhaps some people paying attention to those comments by robert kaplan. But overall, we are definitely seeing a negative at this point for the major averages. Take a look at the bloomberg here for the groups on the move. Healthcare is the worst performing group. Then theres technology, financials and energy. I should mention amazon is actually in the Consumer Discretionary index in terms of where it is sectorwise, and that index is very slightly higher, so its not grouped with technology in the s p 500. When you look at healthcare and see the big decline, at least some of that is due to gilead. The companys profit missing analyst estimates. Got some Consumer Spending numbers that did not meet estimates. All three major averages near the lows of the session. Amazon in point terms is one of the things that is keeping the s p 500 from falling more after the Company Reported a Record Net Income but the other card stacked against it. Sciences coming out. You have seagate coming out with numbers that missed estimates. With rivalsng along is numbers suffered from demand from apple iphones. Then we have the Energy Clients easy in todays session. Going into this running season, energy was predicted to be the biggest drag earnings wise and that is proving to be the case. Phillips 66 out with numbers that missed estimates and its pulling down many of the other refiners and is generally seen from the client and energy today. Red on thet of screen for the day. Well, it is cautious any time, and not just this moment, and anybody who is invested you have to understand that without warning a 10 correction could happen, and that knocks you down 15 or 20 depending upon the portfolio, and the bigger picture, it is shocking that we went into the earning season expecting a not so great earning season, but we all felt, and you know, we all meaning the collective investor psyche, and tech will get it done for us, and the tech has been the source of most of the earningsrelated consternation. Take a look at the triple qs on the monthly basis closing at the 10month moving average in a while, and meanwhile upside surprises in places like exxon.
